- Check in with the person about any ongoing risks and any further plans they may have
- Where the person is in employment, ensure their organisation follow it up if they are off work (with their consent), to offer support - their occupational health department may be able to offer support and formulate a safety plan together with health professionals
- Request they link in with their GP to ensure their mental health is assessed (a GP would be able to assess and consider whether secondary services would have a role or whether psychological interventions are needed)
- Contact the Accident and Emergency department if there is imminent risk of further attempts.

If you live in England you can use the NHS England tool below to find the local crisis call line for you, it asks some basic questions to make sure to find you the right support number and asks for your postcode to find a call centre local to you.
Most of the call centres are operated by NHS Mental Health Trusts with specialist skills and knowledge of local mental health care available to you.

If you live outside of England you can often find information on crisis support lines by using Google and searching for crisis support line and the name of where you live. Alternatively you can call NHS 111 and they will often be able to direct you to local support lines.
